Why is there no lint in the lint trap?

Little or no lint collecting on the lint screen or lint trap is a warning sign of a bigger issue.If there is no lint on the lint screen after a drying cycle, or if lint is on the wrong side of the screen, it could be a sign that the lint is backing up in your dryer. Further, a lack of lint on the lint trap or screen is a sign of an obstructed dryer vent.

If lint builds up in the dryer vent or dryer cavity, back pressure can cause the heating element to overheat. When a dryer overheats, the lint trapped inside the dryer can easily catch fire.
